Maria Costa: The First Latina to Star in her Show at the Kodak Theatre
The super-talented Cuban bombshell dazzled the audience Saturday August 4th and made history as the 1st Latina to star in her own show at the Kodak Theatre. Michael Bernard Beckwith of ‘The Secret’ and of AGAPE hosted to an audience of 2,000 eagerly awaiting fans that had a line forming from the box office to all the way down the Hollywood/Highland corridor. World renown latin music legends Giovanni Hidalgo and Francisco Aguabella set the tone for the night with an impromptu conga performance before the show and kept the flow going throughout the show. Maria’s performance had everyone on the edge of their seats with her multi-dimensional characters about honoring traditional values in a modern world that was both heart touching and hilarious. Her dizzying dance moves was a special treat as numerous dance numbers were executed by the ‘Best of the Best’ dancers in Los Angeles and choreographed by world renown Salsa choreographer Albert Torres. The show was a memorable night that was not to be missed!

At the 2007 Coalition of Human Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles Awards, honoring Selma Hayek, Maria Costa imparts upon the audience a sense of self-assuredness and empowerment. Amidst her witty banter, Maria addresses issues faced by modern-day immigrants in America. Universal Remote Film Premiere
Opening night at the 8th annual Hollywood Film Festival on June 5th 2007, Maria Costa arrived on the Red Carpet with its movie premiere of the sketch comedy film "Universal Remote". The movie, which stars Charlie Murphy (Chappelle's Show) and Robert Hayes (Airplane) is directed by Gary Hardwick
, who has made such hits as "Bring It On", "The Brothers" and "Deliver Us from Eva", has Maria appearing as a spunky, pragmatic anchor where she captivates another performance with her witty charm and edge. The movie, which had everyone rolling off their seats, was a hit at its premiere night at the Hollywood Black Film Festival. Maria Costa's appearance in "Universal Remote" was followed by the opening night Gala after party, which was sponsored by AOL Black Voices.
Rumbero
Chano Pozo was one of the first to bring Cuban music to America. His signature style, “an all-white top hat and tuxedo look, predated Flavor Flav by at least 45 years” (Wikipedia). Maria plays his traditional sweet as honey mother in the independent feature Rumbero: The Story of Chano Pozo”. Imagine, this strong Cuban fireball playing a demure meek ubertraditional woman! Chano learned the ways of macho from his father and carried them throughout his life which aided his female conquests.'Rumbero' is the winner of Producer's Guild of America Best Cinematography Award in 2007 and is currently being screened in independent film circuits around the nation, but you can see the video here.
